After 16 years of ministry at Calvary Chapel East in Albuquerque NM, the Lord began to stir Pastor Randy's heart to plant a church in South Carolina. The original belief was to establish a Calvary Chapel in Spartanburg. After some clear direction and divine confirmation, the Lord led them to Greer. In 2006, Pastor Randy and Keli along with six other people left Albuquerque to establish their homes in the Greer area and begin a new Calvary Chapel work.
The first church service was held at Lake Robinson on June 18, 2006 with just a hand full of people who, previously unknown to Pastor Randy, had been praying for some time to see a Calvary Chapel established here. Soon after the use of a coffee shop in downtown Greer became available. Within several months we had outgrown that facility and we moved around the corner to use the Greer Opry House on Sunday morning and Wednesday evenings. Our time at the Opry House was exciting as well as interesting. A vast assortment of country music memorabilia accented with a live disco ball that no one knew how to turn off made our first service a memorable one.
In 2008 our need for adequate and permanent ministry space led us to rent and eventually purchase our present facility on New Woodruff Road. As we continue to put a lot of improvement to the physical facility, the Lord has truly blessed us as we seek to stay focused on His true design and purpose for His church.
And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, - from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love. Ephesians 4:11,16
